KEETMANSHOOP Deputy Sheriff Pieter van Heerden (32) yesterday made a third appearance in the town’s Magistrate’s Court on charges of defeating the course of justice, possession of stolen livestock and attempted murder.

The case was postponed until January 15 for further Police investigation and his bail of N$1 500 was extended. It is alleged that Van Heerden bought sheep from three men who stole them from a farm near Keetmanshoop.Van Heerden allegedly refused the Police access to his property to search for the stolen livestock.Four of the five stolen sheep were allegedly found at his house.He also allegedly assaulted Police Warrant Officer Japie Kruger, who came to his house to search for the sheep.The Police claim that Van Heerden hit the Police officer on the left eye with an empty glass.It is alleged that Van Heerden bought sheep from three men who stole them from a farm near Keetmanshoop.Van Heerden allegedly refused the Police access to his property to search for the stolen livestock.Four of the five stolen sheep were allegedly found at his house.He also allegedly assaulted Police Warrant Officer Japie Kruger, who came to his house to search for the sheep.The Police claim that Van Heerden hit the Police officer on the left eye with an empty glass.
