Dennis Hendricks bags two international nominations

Katutura Fashion Week founder Dennis Hendricks recently bagged two nominations in the Best Event Producer and Best Agent Model categories at the 2024 Concur Mentalidade Afro Agente Awards in Angola.

Speaking to The Namibian on Wednesday, Hendricks said he was nominated for his work on Katutura Fashion Week, which has expanded and is now starting to receive international recognition.

“This nomination will put the Namibian fashion industry on the map,” said Hendricks, who was thrilled, excited and overwhelmed after waking up to receive the good news of the nomination via email.

“This is a huge deal for me and for my countrymen and women in the fashion sector. It feels great to be nominated. I’m honoured to be in such good company with the other nominees, and in Angola, their market in terms of the industry is huge.

“They are all running great blogs as far as the fashion industry is concerned,” said Hendricks.

He added that his aim is to build the local industry to a larger scale and continue to create awareness.

“We have done tremendous work in terms of uplifting and getting the youth together,” he said.

Meanwhile, plans for hosting the sixth edition of Katutura Fashion Week are continuing, with everything in place.

“We also aim to host the Katutura Fashion Week outside Namibia in countries such as Nigeria, Zambia and Angola in time,” he said.
