The Delimitation and Demarcation Commission has recommended seven regional adjustments, the creation of 10 new constituencies and 61 constituency boundary adjustments in a report presented to president Nangolo Mbumba on Tuesday.
The commission also recommended the renaming of two constituencies.
The report was presented by the commission’s chairperson, acting judge Petrus Unengu, to Mbumba at State House in Windhoek.
Mbumba said the report will be submitted to the Cabinet for deliberation before it is made public.
“The Cabinet will deliberate on it and make the decisions. Not the president. The president does not make decisions alone,” Mbumba said.
The commission had two extensions since the middle of last year to complete its report.
Despite the report recommending constituency and regional adjustments, Mbumba said there will be no new governors.
“There will be no new governors [regions]. They will stay 14,” he said.
