Dear White People

The last time I wrote about white people behaving badly, I was made out to be a racist piece of sh*t. I clearly hit a nerve because white people went bat sh*t crazy.

I said many white people do not make an effort to address their racism. They do not feel compelled to understand that their racism flies in the face of the efforts black people make and the restraint they exercise to help our so-called reconciliation.

That they feel more compassion for dogs than their black compatriots.

They ignore the fact that the wealth they enjoy today was built on the backs of the very blacks they look down on.

This is what a reader replied to me after he read that column: “Don’t like WAP, hey? So put your money where your mouth is! Start a black private school. What’s holding you back? Ah, the white financial ‘hand out’, I hear”. [sic]

I repeat… and will do so until those who refuse to see the wrong in their ways come around.

The whites with this mentality are not worth breaking bread with or constructively engaging with about our collective f*cked up heritage and how we can tackle our current struggles. Hell, these verkrampte poephols are not even worth extracting a genuine apology from for their continuous white privilege.

That reader’s answer to me asking him to address his racism is to retort with more racism.

Start a black private school, ti? Isn’t that exactly the problem? You basing your every argument on how superior you are to black people and how they should aspire to your lofty levels?

You also inadvertently let slip that these private schools are actually established to accommodate white flight and the few black faces there are just for show… at quite the premium. Cultural assimilation is such a little blond b*tch.

But it was The Namibian’s SMS of the Day last Thursday that had my blood boiling.

It said: “The question to ask should not be ‘how do we disown the white person from his large share of the Namibian economy?’ but rather ‘how does the white person remain so successful even with our country’s laws discriminating against him – pushing him out of the economy?’ Replicate that recipe and every person in this country will come out of poverty”.

Holy crapping crap!

Of course, this could be the craftsmanship of an expert wind-up merchant on exhibition here but if it’s not, I have to address this mentality. If you are not white, I pity your ratchet self-loathing arse. The white people got you good, jong.

I have a solution for your acute bewilderment.

This is what you do: Boil Jik, paraffin, Sunlight soap, the urine of a small three-legged baboon and a large bag of Black and White tobacco and wash your head with the concoction. Maybe it can seep through and clear all the malfunctioning parts out of your brain. If it doesn’t work, drink some of that sh*t in large amounts.

Fair due to the guy who sent it. You can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket.

I can also understand why The Namibian published it and made it SMS of the day. The paper has always promoted debate even when it wasn’t fashionable.

Let’s break down what the person actually said:

“How do we disown the white person from his large share of the Namibian economy?”

Disown? How? As far as I know, the economy is still largely in the hands of those who looked after themselves nicely prior to independence and whose corruption was largely swept under the carpet. May I refer you to an article by Shinovene Immanuel in The Namibian not so long ago?

It said: “White Namibians continue to dominate top positions in key sectors of the economy by occupying over 61% of executive directorship posts, the latest report by the Employment Equity Commission revealed”.

How big a percentage of the Namibian population is white again? Just over 5%. Boetie-boetieskap or broederbondism?

This argument (I’m generous to even call it that) is weighed, measured and found to be as relevant as an IUM diploma in a fistfight.

D*ck-riding much? Really? Was it not the Afrikaner mafia in control of TransNamib’s wildly successful 180 days turnaround strategy and Roads Construction Company’s utter organisational, financial and administrative discombobulation? Were they not in charge of South West Africa’s ‘development’? Structural racism still sees white people benefitting from apartheid. Just talk to your friendly bank manager.

Success in business isn’t determined by hue but by cunning, long hours and knowing how to screw the taxman.
