De Beers and MUN in agreement

DE Beers Marine Namibia (DBMN) and the Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) have concluded the 2007/2008 substantive agreement, which provides for wage adjustments of employees in the bargaining unit.

A media release issued by DBMN’s Communications Manager, Christine du Plessis, indicated that in terms of this two-year wage agreement, the minimum rates of pay for employees within the bargaining unit would be increased by eight per cent across the board, of which 20 per cent is a merit-based performance portion in terms of the existing performance appraisal agreement between the parties.
