D-Naff Entertainment Drops Triple Festive Offering

Just in time for the festive season mass release of albums, D-Naff Entertainment was not to be left behind, recently dropping three albums by D-Naff, Christmas and Steven Side. The three albums are available at Antonio’s Art, Mono Music Shop, Namibian Music Shop at Ondangwa as well as Outapi CD and DVD shop.

On his latest offering, gospel maestro D-Naff sought to creatively explore the battle to balance his two personas.

“There is D-Naff and there is Naftalie. The one who talks louder and the one who is silent. D-Naff is the loved one, the flashy and famous one. Naftalie is a man of God, the motivational and inspirational speaker,” D-Naff explains.

This narrative does not however come out strong through the album, but knowing him, the videos for the singles will no doubt emphasise this more.

Featuring Zambian musician TY2 on track two titled ‘Father God’, D-Naff gets spiritual on a reggae beat. ‘Meme Inolila We’ offers comfort through the word of God to women who may find themselves in troubled times. The song features the golden voiced Tekkla as well as Phillimon.

‘Omusita Gwandje’ is one of the highlights on the album, featuring Sebastian Magacha. If you thought these two couldn’t top the thrilling collaboration on ‘Ndinotenda’, this track will prove you wrong.

The album as a whole continues the high standard that the gospel singer has established throughout his career.

D-Naff worked with Solani Glo, Taz, Brown Klaxic as well as Oskid who hails from Zimbabwe.

Looking at Steven Side’s album art, you immediately get the sense that he is yet another artist in D-Naff Entertainment who makes traditional Oshiwambo music.

This prediction immediately comes true when listening to the very first song of his album titled ‘Ondakayange’, which translates to ‘My Voice’.

Definitely a beautiful compilation from this relative newcomer to the music scene, the album perfectly transforms this talented singer who started his career as a back-up singer for some of Namibia’s better known shambo musicians.

Some of the gems on the album are ‘Keumbo Okeumbo’ featuring the vivacious Dama Monique, ‘Otjaka’ as well as ‘Odelela’.

Just signed to the label this year, Steven Side is a promising artist who will no doubt make waves in the music industry with his fresh take on a traditional sound.

‘Ondakayange’ was produced, mixed and mastered by V-Lo at Destiny Studios.

Making music for the people, Christmas has earned quite the name for himself with this shambo album which is a perfect tribute to the traditional Oshiwambo genre.

With the album art perfectly conveying the general theme of the album and Christmas dressed in the traditional Oshiwambo fabric odelela, the singer delivers a selection of songs that are reminiscent of great Namibian folk singers like Tate Kwela and Nanghili na Shima – but with a modern twist.

A short list of collaborations with chief Ndilimani Herman Iipumbu, Hilka and fellow record label mate Steven Side allow Christmas to fully shine on this offering.

Songs to look out for on the album are ‘Ndimpashule’ featuring Hilka, ‘Aambambi’ featuring Steven Side as well as ‘Aawambo’ featuring Steven Side.

‘Ombilive’ is produced, mixed and mastered by V-LO while track 11 was produced by Zambian musician Taz. All tracks are written by Christmas, with additional writing by Steven Side and Hilka.
