A Gobasis resident Jonathan Malo, wants an apology from Shoprite Checkers over an incident two years ago, in which Malo found a glove in a bottle of peanut butter.
The incident happened two years ago at Gobasis and Malo told The Namibian that Shoprite has since refused to apologise over the incident.
Malo reported the matter to the police after he had initially thought the glove was a condom but a subsequent forensic test showed that it was in fact a piece of glove left in the peanut butter when it was manufactured in South Africa.
Malo said as a matter of courtesy and good customer service, he had expected Shoprite to apologise for the incident and offer help for the trauma he and his family went through when they initially thought the glove was a condom.
However, Shoprite manager at Gobasis, who only gave his name as Whitiker said Shoprite had apologised to Malo over the incident even though it had only sold the peanut butter and not manufactured it. He referred further queries to Paul Malan, Shoprite Namibia divisional manager, who did not return a message left on his phone yesterday.
