Gender-based violence is an umbrella term for any harm that is perpetrated against a person that has a negative impact on the physical or psychological health, development and identity of the person and that is the result of gender power inequities that exploit distortions between males and females among males, and among females.
Although it is not exclusive to women and girls. Violence may be physical, sexual, psychological, economic or sociocultural.
Much violence is gender-based, and much gender-based violence is men’s violence to children, women and other men. Transforming gender relations to create gender equality may help end gender-based violence, and by ending men’s silences, this can reduce gender-based violence. Man can engage in non-violent ways in the effort to end gender violence and we will do this by learning from other societies on how to engage them.
We all know that its hard to stop violence amongst individuals when our own nation engage in war and combat to settle their problems, but we have to take it upon our selves to set an example and put an end to the nonsensical abuse. Stopping violence starts by changing your own ways and spreading the word to others. We need to learn how calm down and relax. Don’t bother thinking about the reasons behind your anger, let them go out the window along with your frustration. Seek help from family or friend if you feel that you cant control your anger.
If we stand together against gender-based violence, all can be overcome. This will create a society where violence is a figment of the past and unity and peace leads us ahead.
