NAMIBIA has recorded six deaths linked to the novel coronavirus, 96 new infections and 348 recoveries, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said Friday.

In the last five days, the country recorded 18 deaths.

Among the confirmed cases, four are health care workers, three pupils and two teachers from different schools as well as two students from institutions of higher learning.

Out of the 1 018 active cases, 146 patients are hospitalised 16 of them in the intensive care unit.

Shangula further noted the continued downward trend in the number of cases being reported across the regions.

Recoveries: 33 220

Active cases: 1 018

Deaths: 370
