Cosafa Youth Champs down to the wire

Much will be decided at the 2013 COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships on Monday as Groups A, B and D play their final round of matches to determine the semi-finalists from those pools.

Nothing is certain yet, though there are front-runners and it is hosts Lesotho who are perhaps most desperate for a win.

They take on Mauritius in a match that has been moved to Maseru with a capacity crowd likely to cheers on their side.

The game was scheduled to be played at the Leshoboro Stadium in Mafeteng, but because of the limited venue capacity and security around the game, this will now be played at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru with a kick-off time of 16h30.

That means the other fixture in Group A between Kenya and Comoros, originally slated for that venue, will now be staged at the Leshoboro Stadium in Maseru, also with a kick-off time of 16h30.

Lesotho must beat Mauritius and hope Kenya drop points against Comoros to have any chance of reaching the semi-finals. Kenya have four points from their opening two games, while Lesotho and Comoros have two each and Mauritius one. Only the latter are out of the competition.

Before that though there will be cross-over matches between Groups B and D to see who finishes top of those pools.

Group B leaders Angola will take on current second-placed side in Group D Botswana in Mafeteng at 14h00.

A point will be enough for them to seal top spot, while Botswana must win and hope that their pool leaders, Zimbabwe, lose to the second-placed side in Group B, Mozambique. That game is in Maseru at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru and will also kick-off at 14h00.

The winners of Group A will face the top side in Group C in the semi-finals, currently South Africa, while the teams that finish top of Groups B and D will square-off in the Last 4. – Cosafa.com
