Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin has been nominated for the Cosafa Men’s Coach of the Year Award. Benjamin took on the Braves as head coach in 2022.

His most memorable achievement with the team was defeating African giants, Cameroon 2-1, which played a huge role in their qualification for the 2023 Total Energies African Cup of Nations that took place in January and February. Under his guidance the Warriors managed to advance to the round of 16 – a first for Namibia.

Benjamin spoke to the NFA media on the nomination.

“I am personally proud to be recognised on the achievements with the team on a regional level and obviously thank the main protagonist in all of this, which are the players for their hard work, dedication and commitment to put Namibia on the map. I want to thank the technical team for their tireless efforts with the team. We hope to continue working hard and reaching even greater levels.”

Benjamin is up against Mamelodi Sundown’s head coach, Rulani Mokwena and Morena Ramoreboli from Jwaneng Galaxy.

The winner will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in Durban on April 19, with a panel of judges from across the region having assessed their achievements for the period of 1 January to December 31, 2023. – nfa.org.na
