Cosafa Castle Cup Trophy Tour

THERE will be two more stops on the 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup Trophy Tour this weekend as the festival pulls in to Okahandja and Gobabis for more footballing fun.

After a successful stop in Walvis Bay last Saturday, the build up to the Cosafa Castle Cup that will be hosted in Namibia from June 11 25 continues as the Trophy Tour brings more joy and opportunity to local fans.

Tomorrow the Okahandja Soccer Stadium will be the venue when there will once again be a bit of everything for fans to enjoy, including a coaching clinic, an exhibition match in a fantastic 5 a side soccer cage that members of the public can take part in and local and international football legends on hand to tell their stories of Cosafa Castle Cup triumph.

The venue in Gobabis on Sunday will be the Legare Stadium, where fans will be in for a rare treat as the Brave Warriors will host a training session for them to watch.

Former Namibia internationals Congo Hindjou and China Uutoni will be the Cosafa Castle Cup ambassadors on hand to play some football, take photos and engage with fans.

“The 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup Trophy Tour is a brilliant initiative from the local organising committee and Cosafa and I would like to encourage all football fans in Okahandja and Gobabis to come down and have a look at what it is all about, as well as lend their support to this major international competition that Namibia is hosting, ” Hindjou said.

“We had a lot of fun in Walvis Bay last weekend and there is so much for football lovers to see and do. ”

The action gets under way at 14h00 and there will also be great giveaways from the sponsors, including Castle Lager and Cosafa, autograph opportunities and, of course, the chance to be photographed with the coveted Cosafa Castle Cup trophy that is currently held by Namibia.

Hindjou and Uutoni will hold a coaching clinic for local youngsters, and will also be involved in an exhibition match in the impressive 5 a side soccer cage.

The Cosafa Castle Cup Trophy Tour will also assist in creating awareness, together with the Ministry of Health, of the Human Papilloma Virus and the government’s commitment to rolling out a vaccination programme for teenage girls.

Aside from this weekend’s festivities, there will be two other stops on the 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup Trophy Tour:

Saturday, June 4 Sunday, June 5: Windhoek (Football for Hope Centre, Katutura)

Friday, June 10: Windhoek (UN Plaza, Katutura). cosafa.com
