THE youth wing of the Congress of Democrats (CoD) plans to hold a peaceful public demonstration on Wednesday next week in support of widely expressed public demands for Government action against corrupt public officials and politicians.
The Young Democrats announced in a press release that the demonstration would start at midday in front of the main post office in Windhoek’s city centre, from where demonstrators would march to the Prime Minister’s office to hand over a petition urging Government action against corruption. The Young Democrats said the action was in support of President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s zero tolerance of corruption. The petition will note recent dubious deals involving public funds, public officials and politicians, and call for thorough investigation and effective action against them.Young Democrats Secretary General Natjirikasorua Tjirera has called on other youth organisations, student bodies, individuals, trade unions, NGOs and the public to come out in support of anti-corruption measures by joining the demonstration.
