The Walvis Bay municipality has announced the commencement of construction on the new
Kuisebmond pump station.
This follows the appointment of CSV Construction Namibia as the main contractor, which was announced in a statement by municipality spokesperson Anita Kaihiva on Friday.
She says the project, valued at N$25.5 million, represents a major investment in the town’s essential service infrastructure and demonstrates the municipality’s continued commitment to sustainable development and improved service delivery.
“The new facility will replace the existing sewer pump station, which is nearing the end of its service life and can no longer adequately accommodate the area’s growing demand,” she says.
Once completed, Kaihiva says, the upgraded pump station will significantly enhance capacity, strengthen operational reliability and improve the overall efficiency of the town’s wastewater network, ensuring that Kuisebmond will continue to receive reliable and quality municipal services.
Kaihiv says the project forms part of the municipality’s broader infrastructure improvement plan, aimed at modernising critical systems to support a growing population and drive long-term economic and social development.
By investing in projects of this nature, she says, the municipality continues to create a resilient foundation for the future, ensuring Walvis Bay remains a well-serviced, sustainable and liveable city.
According to her, construction is expected to continue until December 2026, and during this period, residents are advised that heavy construction equipment, including excavators and loaders, will be operating in the area.
“Some noise and vibration may be experienced during the works. The municipality kindly appeals for the community’s patience and understanding as these essential upgrades are carried out,” she adds.
In the interest of safety, she says sections of Nathaniel Maxuilili Avenue will be partially closed off at various stages to accommodate construction progress.
