CORRUPTION, mismanagement and company fraud will come under the spotlight when delegates from the public and private sectors meet at Namibia’s first annual conference on corporate governance scheduled for April this year in Windhoek.
The conference, to be held under the theme ‘Anti-corruption, good governance in public, private and NGO’s in Namibia’, is being jointly organised by the Centre for Training and Projects Development and A-Z Events Management Company. According to organisers Frederick Simpungwe and Tonata Shiimi, the objectives of the three-day conference are to engage stakeholders in a national debate about what constitutes good corporate governance.Other aims include to create awareness about good corporate governance in the Namibian society, to develop a framework for legal and prudential strategies to help company boards navigate today’s litigious environment, understand and benchmark against best practices in corporate governance and evaluate the role of a board in strategy development, evaluation and evolution.Various topics will be discussed in interactive sessions during panel discussions to be held after presentations. The organisers are collaborating with strategic partners for the event, which include the Anti Corruption Commission, the University of Stellenbosch and the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa.Target groups for the conference are company chairpersons, CEOs, financial officers, directors, managers, entrepreneurs, founders and other interested business professionals within the public and private sectors.According to organisers Frederick Simpungwe and Tonata Shiimi, the objectives of the three-day conference are to engage stakeholders in a national debate about what constitutes good corporate governance.Other aims include to create awareness about good corporate governance in the Namibian society, to develop a framework for legal and prudential strategies to help company boards navigate today’s litigious environment, understand and benchmark against best practices in corporate governance and evaluate the role of a board in strategy development, evaluation and evolution.Various topics will be discussed in interactive sessions during panel discussions to be held after presentations. The organisers are collaborating with strategic partners for the event, which include the Anti Corruption Commission, the University of Stellenbosch and the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa.Target groups for the conference are company chairpersons, CEOs, financial officers, directors, managers, entrepreneurs, founders and other interested business professionals within the public and private sectors.
