Concerned About The Administration Of Tsumeb

TSUMEB residents are living hopeless lives.

We have been voting since Independence for better living conditions and improved welfare status, but the town council who has been appointed to fulfil this task lacks creative powers. We are still experiencing a lot of problems in our society.Problems like:* the maladministration of the Tsumeb municipality* rate payers/property owners are not able to settle their municipal bills, due to the fact that interest and basic rates are charged every month with increased additional deposits we do not understand,* misappropriation of public funds by some of the town council’s employees,* funds that have been made available by donors to improve living conditions – especially in the Soweto area – but nothing has been done with them so far, people are still living in degradation,* the population and unemployment rate is increasing and the infrastructure of Tsumeb town does not expand to accommodate the up coming youth. The contributing factors to all these problems are simply the lack of a platform for the residents to air/utter their views and opinions about the problems that are hampering their living standards. The town council of Tsumeb is also not transparent. And then there is no unity amongst the residents themselves. The burning issues concerning the social and economic development have not been dealt with and are busy destroying the lives of the society. So we are urging all the residents of Tsumeb to perk up and put on the Tsumeb uniform and become one big family.By doing this, they will start to turn the “have-nots” into “have-its” of our living standards from the community level. We cannot tolerate the above mentioned problems anymore, because a human being – especially a civilised one – has a natural desire to live a proper happy life.Last but not least, we convey our appreciation for the goodies that have been delivered so far, but the fact remains that the town council has failed to adhere to the code of conduct. The concerned residents of Tsumeb have detected the above-mentioned prodigal administration by observing them but we don’t have prima-facie evidence concerning these problems.Therefor we would like the Ministry of Regional and Local Government and Housing to appoint auditors to scrutinise the administration of the Tsumeb municipality and the town council.
