Community members at Otunganga village in the Ohangwena region caught a 37-year-old man allegedly raping a 22-year-old mentally ill woman on Friday.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the police weekend crime report said community members came to her rescue after they heard her screaming for help.
The suspect has been arrested and will appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In another incident, a 43-year-old man was arrested at Otjerunda village in Opuwo for allegedly raping a 40-year-old Angolan woman who was sleeping outside her room.
Police investigations continue.
