Political parties running for the elections on Wednesday have been restricted from broadcasting campaign messages two days ahead of the poll.
This order has been made by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran) via a memo dated 22 November.
The order is in line with Rule 22 (10) of the Broadcasting Code of Broadcasting Licensees.
Cran says the authority is empowered by the Communications Act to prescribe broadcasters special duties while campaigning for elections.
“Therefore, all broadcasting licensees are required to cease the broadcast of party election broadcasts, political advertisements, or any material canvassing for support of any political party or candidate by Monday, 25 November 2024, at 07h00, being 48 hours before polling commences,” says Cran
