The Windhoek municipality on Tuesday tore down at least five illegal shacks in the Agste Laan informal settlement, resulting in the entire community protesting.
Among the group left homeless after the move is Katunamuinjo Kanduuombe and her week-old baby daughter Keripere. City officials apparently visited the area two days prior to warn the illegal occupants to move, and on Tuesday marked more shacks set for deconstruction by the end of the week. Pictured here is Kanduuombe with her week-old baby Keripere, on top of the remains of her torn down home.
