WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors Coach Ben Bamfuchile has suggested a minimum of four friendly matches in West and North Africa as a prelude to the forthcoming Ghana 2008 continental showpiece.
In an interview with Nampa yesterday, Bamfuchile said he was treating next year’s continental competition with seriousness, thus the national team should go into camp in the next two weeks. Bamfuchile said he and other members of the technical staff were putting in place a programme to psyche the ‘boys’ into a responsible team, which would work hard towards the 2008 competition.”We need to work hard.I am happy that we are improving though it is a team of young players. We need friendly games against teams like Morocco, Egypt and teams in the West,” he said.He was particularly emphatic on friendly matches in West Africa for the team to acclimatise, as the games will be played in that region next year.Bamfuchile said he had worked on the attitude of players and wanted them to show more seriousness as opposed to making up in terms of match appearances.”Some players did not mind whether we win or not as long as they got appearance fees.We want to change the mentality of laziness,” he said. The coach said he was not worried about the grouping in next year’s continental competition, which would be Namibia’s second appearance after the 1998 Burkina Faso Africa cup competition.”I don’t mind who we meet.We shall take them as they come,” he said.NampaBamfuchile said he and other members of the technical staff were putting in place a programme to psyche the ‘boys’ into a responsible team, which would work hard towards the 2008 competition.”We need to work hard.I am happy that we are improving though it is a team of young players. The coach said he was not worried about the grouping in next year’s continental competition, which would be Namibia’s second appearance after the 1998 Burkina Faso Africa cup competition.”I don’t mind who we meet.We shall take them as they come,” he said.Nampa
