Club set up to promote local products

TEAM Namibia has launched a Goodwill Ambassadors Club whose major objective is to promote locally made products and local services.

The initiative launched in Windhoek yesterday, would see the organisation recruiting at least 10 influential Namibian personalities from all walks of life taking part in promoting Namibian brands around the country. According to Team Namibia, these individuals are Namibians with ‘stature, and whose stature can equip the organisation in further developing pride in all things that are Namibian’.The new club has so far pooled in President Hifikepunye Pohamba, singer Nianell, Michelle Heitha-Pokolo and Eliakim Shiimi. The ambassadors will work towards creating pride in the buying and usage of locally manufactured goods under the theme ‘Be Namibian, Buy Namibian’.Members of this newly established team are expected to familiarise themselves with the Team Namibia concept, make mention of Team Namibia at public events they attend, assist in recruiting new members and assist with fund raising among other activities. This should come as good news to manufacturers who have long been sidelined and sometimes pushed out of business by cheap goods imported from mainly South Africa and other countries.Speaking at the event yesterday, Team Namibia’s Chairman, Tarah Shaanika said, “Increased consumption of our own products and services, be it in the domestic or foreign markets will result in increased local production, job creation and economic growth.”This is a good reason for every Namibian to support our efforts by consuming Namibian products and services.”Nianell pledged her support to the club saying ‘by supporting a shared vision of prosperity, greatness and a voice on the global stage’.The good ambassadors are granted honourary membership to Team Namibia by the organisation’s board of directors.According to Team Namibia, these individuals are Namibians with ‘stature, and whose stature can equip the organisation in further developing pride in all things that are Namibian’.The new club has so far pooled in President Hifikepunye Pohamba, singer Nianell, Michelle Heitha-Pokolo and Eliakim Shiimi. This should come as good news to manufacturers who have long been sidelined and sometimes pushed out of business by cheap goods imported from mainly South Africa and other countries.Speaking at the event yesterday, Team Namibia’s Chairman, Tarah Shaanika said, “Increased consumption of our own products and services, be it in the domestic or foreign markets will result in increased local production, job creation and economic growth.”This is a good reason for every Namibian to support our efforts by consuming Namibian products and services.”Nianell pledged her support to the club saying ‘by supporting a shared vision of prosperity, greatness and a voice on the global stage’.The good ambassadors are granted honourary membership to Team Namibia by the organisation’s board of directors.
