The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has directed that all public service staff will work until 10h00 on Friday, as the nation prepares for president Hage Geingob’s funeral service and burial.
In a statement issued by Cabinet secretary George Simataa on Wednesday, he said the prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila had done this to allow public servants to pay their respects to the late president during a military procession with his body through the streets of Windhoek.
This, however, excludes civil service staff who perform emergency work and offer critical services.
“I wish to inform you that a ceremonial route procession, where the remains of the late president will be chauffeured within designated streets in the capital city to allow the public to pay their respect to the third president of the Republic of Namibia, is planned for Friday, 23 February,” Simataa’s statement said
