Civics players to join SA club

THREE players from Civics are expected to join the Upington-based side, Louisville Pirates, when the newly-established Umvela Golden League in South Africa kicks off at the end of August.

Civics and former Brave Warriors goalkeeper Danzyl Bruwer, midfielder Donnie Isaacs and John Cloete have all been loaned to the newly-promoted club. The three players are currently waiting for their work permits, which according to Civics Administrative Secretary, Tim Isaacs, are due within the next week.Isaacs told The Namibian Sport yesterday that the players will be with the club until the end of the season, after they impressed at the trials held earlier in July.He said the agreement between them and Louisville Pirates is that Civics be informed if there are any other clubs that are interested in the three players, while doing duty there.”In future, we need to know if there are any other clubs interested in them so that we can open up the career doors of the players, in case the other teams are bigger than the one they will be playing for, ” he said.He said Louisville Pirates did not have a strong professional set-up compared to several teams that will compete in the new Umvela Golden League.”The team was playing in the Inland First Division and was recently promoted. They are not really a big professional side, but will possibly get there as they will receive money from the league to maintain itself, ” said Isaacs. The Umvela Golden League was established this year with South African business tycoon and former Gauteng Premier, Tokyo Sexwale, pumping in a hefty N$30 million. The league now eliminates the former Inland and Coastal Stream leagues, which served as the first division leagues in South African football.Meanwhile, Isaacs also confirmed that Civics and former Brave Warriors striker Floris Diergaardt and Civics midfielder, Jamunovandu Ngatjizeko, returned to Windhoek after they failed to land places during trials in Germany and Denmark recently.Isaacs said the players returned disappointed last Sunday.
