City of Windhoek hikes electricity tariff by 3.9%

The City of Windhoek on Friday announced electricity tariffs of 3.9%.

The djustment is effective 1 August.

The City of Windhoek informs residents that, in line with the Electricity Act, 2007 and as approved by the Electricity Control Board, electricity tariffs have been adjusted by an average of 3.9% for the 2025/2026 financial year.

This adjustment, the municipality said, is necessary to maintain a secure, reliable and high-quality electricity supply for all residents.

“While we strive to keep electricity affordable, these changes are vital to ensure that our infrastructure can meet the growing needs of our community,” reads the statement.

The municipality stated that electricity is an essential service, and this step will help it continue supporting Windhoek’s social and economic development in a sustainable and caring manner.
