THE City of Windhoek has announced five different lucky draws in a bid to get more clients to pay for their services on time.City spokesman Ndangi Katoma announced last week that residents and businesses who pay their municipal bills on time would be eligible to win between N$250 and N$2 000.
Katoma said the City had managed to recover debt of up to N$40 million despite an increase in the annual bill of approximately N$70 million. Draws will be made on a monthly and quarterly basis.Katoma said 20 residential clients who are not in arrears and pay their account before the fifteenth of each month will each win N$250 every month, while 25 in arrears but who pay on time will qualify for the N$100 draw.Katoma said another draw was planned on a quarterly basis for residential and business clients who pay regularly.Five residents with a clean bill and who pay before the deadline will win N$1 000 each while five businesses and corporate clients in the same category will win N$2 000 each.Katoma said the first recipients would be announced at the Council meeting of this month. The draw will be conducted electronically at the City of Windhoek and the accounts of the winners in the residential category will be credited with the prize money, while the rest will be issued with cheques.Draws will be made on a monthly and quarterly basis.Katoma said 20 residential clients who are not in arrears and pay their account before the fifteenth of each month will each win N$250 every month, while 25 in arrears but who pay on time will qualify for the N$100 draw.Katoma said another draw was planned on a quarterly basis for residential and business clients who pay regularly.Five residents with a clean bill and who pay before the deadline will win N$1 000 each while five businesses and corporate clients in the same category will win N$2 000 each.Katoma said the first recipients would be announced at the Council meeting of this month. The draw will be conducted electronically at the City of Windhoek and the accounts of the winners in the residential category will be credited with the prize money, while the rest will be issued with cheques.
