Local artist and entrepreneur Toto Ndameshime, better known as Chubby Beats, has expanded his brand by opening a food stall in Windhoek’s Ondjambo (‘Wambo Lokasie’).
The venture, named The Meat Shack Kapana, is co-owned by chef Elvina Horaes and officially opened in August.
Located along Samuel Shikomba Street, the stall operates daily, offering kapana and a range of traditional Namibian dishes.
Deliveries are available across Windhoek, and the team also caters for weddings, corporate functions and birthdays.
“We offer a delicious selection of kapana, a variety of traditional Namibian foods, and our signature Chili Chillatoz hot sauces,” Chubby Beats says.
“We wanted to bring fresh, mouth-watering meat closer to the community so people don’t have to drive far.”
The decision to open at Ondjambo followed years of catering at festivals, corporate events and popular venues such as Elambo Pub & Grill.
According to Chubby Beats, the new site was chosen strategically.
“It’s a known hub for food lovers, with plenty of foot and car traffic. We’ve built a loyal customer base, and this location allows us to be closer to them,” he says, adding that the business currently employs three staff members.
For the artist, the stall represents more than business growth.
“This is a chance to share our passion for authentic food and create a space where the community can gather and enjoy a great local meal. It’s not just about earning a living; it’s also about building something meaningful and creating opportunities for myself and my team,” he says.
He describes the venture as a long-held dream come true.
“Opening this stall has already had a positive impact on my life. We want to showcase traditional cuisine while also building something lasting for our daughters,” he adds.
Beyond food, Chubby Beats continues to focus on music.
He recently released two singles, ‘Rewind’ and ‘Mwakukuta’, and is preparing to launch an EP titled ‘23’ on 22 October.
The six-track project is dedicated to his late son.
With The Meat Shack Kapana, Chubby Beats says he hopes to combine his love for food and music while strengthening his ties to the local community.
