China expanding digital pay television

BEIJING- A Shanghai broadcaster said yesterday it was about to receive China’s second digital pay TV license, ending the monopoly of state-run China Central Television.

Regulators have given permission for Shanghai Interactive Television… Ltd. to provide digital pay TV, although it hasn’t received a license, said Julia Lee, a spokeswoman for Shanghai Media Group.
