Chile Futsal Club and Quality Futsal Club remain the pace-setters in this year’s NDTC Futsal Premier League after both recorded big victories over the weekend.
Chile maintained their unbeaten status with a 8-1 victory against Ballers, while Quality remain in the title hunt after a 7-2 win against Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Society (WIAS).
On Friday, Chile took a while to break down Ballers’ defence but their resistance finally broke when Immanuel Angula opened the scoring with a great long-range volley in the sixth minute. That opened the floodgates as Chile launched a goal blitz with three more goals in two minutes by Wesley Otto and Celso Roberto (two), and although Bonifasius Kauyu opened Ballers’ account, Rolando Swartz put Chile 5-1 ahead just before the halftime break.
Donald Modise put them 6-1 ahead early in the second half, while further goals by Martin Humphries and Otto sealed a commanding 8-1 win. It could have been much higher had it not been for Ballers’ keeper Alexander Shivute who pulled off some great saves, including a penalty save from Elroy Drotsky.
Chile are now the only unbeaten team in the league and top the log on 33 points from 11 matches, but Ballers’ title ambitions have taken a knock as they are now nine points off the pace on 24 points in fourth position.
On Saturday, Quality maintained their title challenge with a comfortable 7-2 win against WIAS.
Luis Solunga gave them the lead after barely a minute, while further goals by Ronaldo Xoagub, Ezio Chivas and Chisloth Nunda put them 4-0 ahead at the break.
Quality maintained the momentum after the break to streak into a 7-0 lead after further goals by Eduardo Solunga, Ken Salote and Luis Solunga, before WIAS opened their account with two late consolation goals by Netope Vernes and Derven Neema.
That win put Quality second on 30 points, but WIAS are still in search of a win and are now second last on the log with only two points.
Windhoek Futsal Club remain in touch with the leaders after a 3-0 victory against EFG Patriots.
Goals by Mzwandile Mento, Nanguei Kamatuka and Greyeno Rusberg gave them a hard-fought victory to move up to 27 points, but former powerhouses Patriots, who won the league in 2022 and came second in 2023, have now dropped down to seventh position on 19 points.
Boston Madrid moved up to fifth position on 22 points after a 5-0 win against JAC FC.
Romario van Wyk, Wesley Bock, Lorenzo Louis, Renzel Tjihita and Nyamisane Klaaste scored their goals, while JAC are now third last on seven points.
7 Kings, meanwhile, eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 win against The Mavericks, to move up to 13th position on nine points, while The Mavericks remain 11th also on nine.
Ragazzi FC beat Demia FC 6-3 to move up to ninth position on 14 points, and the X Men moved up to eighth position on 16 points after beating bottom-of-the-log Flying V 7-2.
