Chiefs push for genocide negotiations to conclude

The chiefs of the communities affected by the 1904 to 1908 genocide want negotiations with Germany to be finalised before the end of this year.

Chiefs team leader Charles Eiseb on Thursday said the leaders’ instruction is to complete the process.

Chief Dawid Gertze of the //Haboben Traditional Authority in the //Kharas region said community members are dying and want to see the process concluded.

Gertze said the //Kharas region is adamant that genocide negotiations are nearing an end, and that the communities which have declined to be part of consultations would not hold this back.

He was speaking at a press conference on the outcomes of a meeting with the chiefs of the communities affected by the 1904 to 1908 genocide on Friday.
