‘Chiefs are not that good’

Black Africa captain Dacosta Angula says Kaizer Chiefs are relatively ordinary, despite his side losing 3-0 to the South Africans in the first leg of their Caf Champions League preliminary last week.

Speaking to The Namibian Sport ahead of Saturday’s crunch return clash, the defiant defender believes the scoreline from last Saturday makes for flattering reading from a Chiefs point of view.

In truth, he said, Black Africa are more than an able match for their more celebrated rivals and will show their competitiveness at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Saturday evening.

Kick-off is at 20h00.

“It’s not like we were outplayed. They are not that good. They only scored those goals because of our mistakes,” said Angula.

“We will go in and attack them. We must. There is no other way to play if we want to go through to the next round.”

Following the result from the first leg in Johannesburg, Saturday’s match is being treated as academic by the reigning South African champions, who according to reports will rest several of their first team regulars.

However, Angula said the tie was far from over and that BA intend to overturn the deficit.

“They will be very surprised. We are not giving up. We showed with the Brave Warriors that it can be done when we played Mozambique here [in a African Nations Championship qualifier],” he said.

While he admitted that some of his inexperienced teammates may have been overawed by the occasion away from home, Angula is adamant that Saturday’s showdown will follow a distinctively different route.

“The mood in the team is very positive and the spirit is very intense. It will be tough but we must believe in our ability,” he said. “We want to make history. Not just for Black Africa but Namibia as well.”
