Chicken theft – fingers point to Police

THE Police’s Complaints and Discipline Unit at Walvis Bay is trying to trace a Windhoek resident to help it in a theft charge it is investigating against a Special Field Force (SFF) member. Lukas Kandirikirira was a driver last year for Flag Enterprises, a company that delivers food rations to the Police and Defence Force.

According to Flag Enterprises manager Riaan van der Westhuizen, Kandirikirira was sent to deliver an order of 10 packs of chicken to the SFF Unit at Walvis Bay. Upon his return to Windhoek, the driver received a phone call from the Police at the harbour town, claiming that they had not received their order.Van der Westhuizen said, however, that the SFF member in question had signed the invoice.According to Van der Westhuizen, when Kandirikirira disputed the Police’s claim that they had not received the delivery, the Police threatened to open a criminal case against him.Yesterday, an investigating officer told The Namibian that both men had opened cases against one another, but that Kandirikirira was sought only as a witness in the Complaints and Discipline Unit’s investigation into the SFF member’s conduct.Kandirikirira has since left his job at Flag Enterprises, and it is believed that he might currently be employed as a taxi driver in the capital.Kandirikirira himself, or anyone with information on his whereabouts, is requested to contact Detective Inspector Nuunyango at (064) 219 023 or Constable Somseb at (064) 219 000 or 081 214 4119.Upon his return to Windhoek, the driver received a phone call from the Police at the harbour town, claiming that they had not received their order.Van der Westhuizen said, however, that the SFF member in question had signed the invoice.According to Van der Westhuizen, when Kandirikirira disputed the Police’s claim that they had not received the delivery, the Police threatened to open a criminal case against him.Yesterday, an investigating officer told The Namibian that both men had opened cases against one another, but that Kandirikirira was sought only as a witness in the Complaints and Discipline Unit’s investigation into the SFF member’s conduct.
