Charmy Kurz Prepares for World Domination

The singer, painter and social media model is currently based in California, where she continues to work on her musical journey and her plot to dominate the industry both locally and abroad.

The Oranjemund native has had an interesting journey so far, chock full of ups, downs and everything in between, but the charismatic and assertive figure seems to always come out on top.

From dabbling in OnlyFans modelling, creating banging collaborations with the likes of Nadia Nakai and Costa Titch, to 50 Cent and Lebron James co-signs, a growing fan base around the world and then the dissolution of the first music label to sign her, Kurz has experienced quite a lot. Though she promises she is just getting started.

“I’m taking over the world,” she says softly in a voice note, responding to questions sent to her.

She is sitting in a car smack dab in the middle of Hollywood, catching a moment between making music and exploring the new culture and scene.

She says music completely consumes her entire life and at this point, music is more than a career to her. It is her entire life from when she wakes up to when she goes to bed.

It’s not a dream. It’s reality, she says, and there’s a giddiness in her voice as she considers all the possibilities.

Part of Kurz’ appeal is that she isn’t at all easy to figure out. Well on her way to being a Namibian sex symbol, she’s a talented vocalist, guitar player and visual artist, and a devout Christian with strong convictions and a deep desire to fulfil her purpose.

Though many on social media were sceptical when the artist announced that she would no longer allow others to sexualise her, and that she was dedicating herself to the Word, the 26-year-old has remained firm in her commitment to her faith.

It is this credence that she says drives her.

Through her new-found perspective on life, Kurz says she is focused and more ready than ever for what the future holds. This new side to the musician has come with a couple of changes. Earlier this month, she teased fans with a taste of what she’s been working on in the studio, and the jump in quality and texture is unmissable.

“It’s probably going to be something crazy. It’s gonna be something I always knew I would be into but I never really executed it,” she says about her upcoming music, which will be more “international”.

She has plans to release an album soon but is keeping mum on the details surrounding her new work and new team.

Kurz is now working with famed producer Leon ‘RoccStar’ Youngblood Jr, a four-time Grammy nominated talent who has worked with the likes of Chris Brown and Post Malone.

Many may have noticed that Kurz has officially changed her stage name to Charm. It’s a moniker her new friends across the pond gave her, and she says it grew on her and suits her well.

“It’s very graceful and very lucky. But it’s godly luck, God’s charm. I think I am the charm of the music industry,” she says.

All this seems to be a cathartic exercise in moving on from the past, which recently saw her split from her label and the romantic relationship she had with CEO Ennio Hamutenya, a fallout that happened quite explosively and publicly.

On whether living life with so many strangers keeping their eyes on her has impacted her life in any way, she says she’s used to it and doesn’t think about it too much. On top of that, she says she’s been preparing for this since childhood.

“I imagined this as a kid. I imagined [being] this type of woman, [having] this type of hunger, this type of drive and ongoing strength … I always saw that for myself. I always thought about how it would be.

“It’s what I imagined it to be, and every day it’s even better. Every day there’s something new.”

As for the past? She’s leaving it where it is.

On where she stands with her former label, which she left a few months back, she says she has nothing to say.

“But I wish everybody the best,” she says after a few moments thought. “Every single one of you. I wish you the best, sincerely.”

Kurz believes everything she has experienced has been part of a bigger plan which has prepared her for where she is headed.

It isn’t easy though, but she says she is blessed to be able to connect with family, especially her mother who knows her best.

For now, she sees herself as being quite close to the top, with just a bit more work that needs to be put in. Till then, she’ll be playing her own tunes on repeat, giving as much love to the world as she can, and living life like a movie every single day.

In future, she hopes to leave an impact through her music and also open more doors for other talented Namibians.

“I’m just letting [God] guide me. Even if I question something or it’s a bit scary, I’ll go for it because I have faith.” she says.
