BRIGADIER General Bernard Kawa on Tuesday handed over the command of the 12 Motorised Infantry Brigade near Keetmanshoop to Colonel Peter Ngilukilwa.
“It is sad to declare to you members of 12 Motorised Infantry Brigade, a formation that became a family entity to me in terms of directing, team effort and companionship that today, we are parting literally. Spiritually memories of our time together will still prosper and I can only acknowledge that I leave you being grateful for your support and most of all, your esprit de corps,” said Kawa, who has been posted to DRC as defence attache.
In his acceptance speech Ngilukilwa said he will never permit members of the brigade to involve themselves in tribalism, favourtism and nepotism, while urging the members to abstain from alcohol and drug abuse, which he highlighted as one of the biggest problems the armed forces face.
“We should rather concentrate our efforts on team-building activities, training, and sport competitions just to mention a few,” Ngilukilwa advised.
Newly appointed Chief of Defence John Mutwa, army commander Major General Tomas Hamunyela and //Karas governor Bernadus Swartbooi witnessed the hand over ceremony.
