Debmarine Namibia Premiership champions African Stars FC are determined to hold on to their title, head coach Mervin Mbakera says.

His team is on top of the standings on 34 points, two points ahead of second-placed Khomas Nampol and four points clear of third-placed FC Ongos.

Mbakera says they remain focused on the task at hand and have faith in the philosophy that served them well last season.

“We believe in being a unit on and off the field of play. We just need to tighten the character in terms of knowing that you are playing for one of the bigger clubs in Namibian football and not just that but the country’s champions,” Mbakera says.

Despite boasting arguably the strongest squad in the country, Stars are looking to add reinforcements in January.

“I am blessed to have a supporting management in terms of the objective and that is to make sure that we win the league come May,” Mbakera says.
