The Wanderers Padel Celebrity Challenge Cup will be held at the Wanderers courts on Saturday. Namibian celebrities like legendary sprinter Frank Fredericks, former Namibian editor Gwen Lister, and singer Top Cheri will be out in force to showcase their padel skills in a tournament through which the proceeds will go to charity.

According to organizer Shane Snyman, the tournament will take a ‘Team Americano’ format, with eight teams of two people competing. Each team will consist of a celebrity and a corporate member. Each team will play each other once, with 16 points available in each match, and the team that finishes with the most points will be declared the winner.

“The winners will have the choice to donate the prize money to one charity, if they agree, or separate charities if they decide differently. The same applies to the best dressed team and best spirit or ‘gees,” Snyman said.

The other celebrities who will be in action are Cassia Sharply, Mark Sternagel, Le-Hugo van Rooyen, Skrypt, Jean Louis Knouwds, and Zeeno Farmer.

The participating corporates are Tyre Rack, Tren Tyre, Fresh FM, Dulux, FNB, The Patio, M&Z Mercedes, and Coca Cola/Power Play.

The winning team will receive N$25 000, while the best dressed team and the team with the best spirit will receive N$5 000 each.

The tournament will be held at the Wanderers padel courts from 14h00 on Saturday till late, while there will also be live entertainment by The Yesterdaye.
