Cattle herder takes own life in Zambezi region

A Zambian national (23) allegedly took his own life at Luhonono village in the Zambezi region on Saturday.

He was identified as Sikobiso Bupilo and his next of kin have been informed of his death.

Regional police spokesperson inspector Kisco Sitali confirmed the incident to The Namibian on Monday.

He said Bupilo was discovered by another cattle herder in his room at around 18h00.

“No foul play was detected, however, police investigations continue,” he said.

In an unrelated incident, Sitali said another Zambian national died following a hippo attack which occurred while he was fishing at the Nasanza river channel on Saturday.

His body was recovered on Sunday and was taken to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital mortuary.

The deceased has only been identified by his first name, while his age is unknown. Police investigations continue, said Sitali.
