Carreira not with Tigers

FORMER Ramblers football official Mario Carreira has denied rumours that he will join premiership giants Tigers as technical director next season.

Carreira served as technical director at Ramblers, which he left last season. He told The Namibian Sport yesterday that he is considering various options, including the offer made by Tigers.”Tigers approached me and made a very handsome offer to me, but I have not accepted anything yet,” he said.Carreira said he was also considering offers from another premiership side, Blue Waters, and an unidentified team from the first division.Carreira also served as the chairman of the Namibia Premier League (NPL) for over six years. If he accepts the Tigers offer, he will team up with former Civics mentor Ali Akan, who joined the side during the pre-season.Akan has already dished out instructions from the bench on two occasions for Tigers and he is being assisted by former Tigers midfielder Alele Kapule as well as veteran defensive strongman Kumi Uumati, who also played for the Donkerhoek side.Tigers ended fourth in the league last season and did not win any major tournament during the 2004/2005 season.
