The Otjozondjupa regional police on Monday have confirmed the death of Agronomic board member Jeicob ‘Touffi Omalaule’ Hamutenya.
Regional police commissioner Philip Hidengwa said Hamutenya died in a car accident 20 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo on Sunday.
The wife of Hamutenya’s driver also sustained injuries in the accident and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died, said Hidengwa.
Hamutenya served as the regional manager of the Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA) for the northern regions in Ongwediva.
He also served on the online platform Namibian Opportunities since 2016.
The Namibian Opportunities community says Hamutenya played a vital role in the growth of the platform, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many Namibian youth.
“[He] has been an integral part of Namibian Opportunities since its inception in 2016, dedicating his time and energy to helping young people access and secure personal and professional development opportunities.”
Hamutenya was also a member of Swapo Party Youth League, the Research and Technical Advisory Committee, the University of Namibia Alumni Association and a National Youth Service board member.
