Police at Bethanie are investigating a case of culpable homicide after four people died when the car they were travelling in overturned near Goageb on Friday.
Namibian Police crime investigations coordinator for the //Kharas region, deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango said on Saturday the incident happened around 16h00 about 40 kilometres before Goageb on the Aus-Goageb road.
“It is alleged that the vehicle was travelling from Aus on its way to Kosis when the driver lost control on a curve and the vehicle overturned,” said Mbango.
There were eight occupants in the vehicle, including the driver. Three passengers and the driver died at the scene while the other four passengers were taken to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital for medical care.
It is reported that they sustained serious injuries and their conditions were described as critical.
The deceased persons were identified as Edward Menatzick (54), Gerhardus Menatzick(25), Andries Breethoring(25) and Adriana Bostander (2). All were residents of Kosis settlement near Bethanie.
Their next of kin are informed of their deaths and investigations continue.
