Calling all Miss World Namibia hopefuls

Application for Miss World Namibia 2026 are open as of yesterday until 16 January.

Miss World Namibia director Andreas Robert says the application deadline of 10 days is to ensure the principles of equity and equality for all eligible Namibians wanting to participate.

“The grace period is in line with the international rules of the Miss World competition to give all qualified Namibians a fair chance to be part of this prestigious platform,” he says.

Robert says contestants should be between 18 and 26 years old upon entry to the competition.

He says the Miss World Namibia 2026 crowning ceremony will be taking place in Windhoek on 31 January.

Apart from the concept of beauty and glamour, Miss World is about leadership, service, and social responsibility, he says.

“Miss World is a platform for purpose-driven leadership. The successful participants ought to show commitment to making a social impact, specifically through the Beauty With a Purpose project, which is still the core part of the Miss World movement,” Robert says.

As the organisation readies for the next chapter, it also remembers Selma Kamanya, the first Miss World Namibia to wear the title.

“Kamanya has always kept the Namibian flame burning during and even after her experience abroad,” Robert says.

Crowned Miss World Namibia 2025, Kamanya made one of the best appearances for the country on the international platform, he says.

She participated in the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant in India, where she made it to the top 8 finalists.

In addition to that, she also won the Top Model Africa award in the Miss World Top Model competition.

Kamanya has initiated programmes through her InnoNation Foundation, focusing on sustainable agricultural projects as well as mental health awareness among underprivileged communities.

In reflecting on her experience, she says: “It is a responsibility based on values more than show.

“Leadership is not about showbiz. It is about authentic motivation and intention. It is about integrity and uprightness of character and good people management.”

The Miss World Namibia organisation is encouraging all interested and eligible candidates to apply.
