CAF-Uefa courses important for Namibia

WINDHOEK – The Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) acting secretary general says courses for referees and coaches under the auspices of CAF and Uefa are vital for the country’s soccer development.

Namibia hosted a five-day Confederation of Football Association (CAF) and Union Federation of Football Association (Uefa) Referees’ and Coaching Instructors’ Course for southern Africa that ended on Sunday. Barry Rukoro urged club officials to make use of such courses organised by the NFA because unqualified coaches, referees and administrators will not be permitted to officiate at any event in the future. He said the country is in a unique position as the NFA now has enough instructors to conduct basic courses.Said Rukoro: “The challenge is now on the referees and coaches to attend the courses, they must not give the excuse that they are excluded as opportunities are created for them.”He said the association has taken too much risk in having unqualified referees and coaches taking care of the game. The just-ended course was attended by 43 participants from the SADC region. The local football body has agreed with Fifa to host a football administration course for southern Africa from August 6 to 10 this year..NampaBarry Rukoro urged club officials to make use of such courses organised by the NFA because unqualified coaches, referees and administrators will not be permitted to officiate at any event in the future. The local football body has agreed with Fifa to host a football administration course for southern Africa from August 6 to 10 this year..Nampa
