RUNDU – The body of Alexander Ndango, who was among the 28 passengers who died in last week’s bus crash near Grootfontein, was identified by his uncle, Kavera Thirunda, at Oshakati on Thursday.
The Red Cross Society’s regional co-ordinator for Ohangwena, Diana Iyambo, accompanied Thirunda and another family member to the Oshakati mortuary. Iyambo said the body had earlier been misidentified as that of Alexander Rengura.Although the authorities believed all the accident victims had been accounted for, Thirunda insisted that he was present when Ndango boarded the bus in Windhoek. He told Regional Governor John Thighuru that the boy had not been seen since boarding the bus.The Red Cross Society is currently helping Thirunda to obtain a death certificate so that his nephew’s body could be transported to Rundu for Saturday’s mass burial.Meanwhile, Iyambo says the Red Cross was consulting with the Police to find out whether Alexander Rengura’s body was at a mortuary at Grootfontein or Tsumeb.- NampaIyambo said the body had earlier been misidentified as that of Alexander Rengura.Although the authorities believed all the accident victims had been accounted for, Thirunda insisted that he was present when Ndango boarded the bus in Windhoek. He told Regional Governor John Thighuru that the boy had not been seen since boarding the bus.The Red Cross Society is currently helping Thirunda to obtain a death certificate so that his nephew’s body could be transported to Rundu for Saturday’s mass burial.Meanwhile, Iyambo says the Red Cross was consulting with the Police to find out whether Alexander Rengura’s body was at a mortuary at Grootfontein or Tsumeb.- Nampa
