Brazil wants to promote Namibian tourism

WINDHOEK – The Brazilian Ambassador to Namibia, Marcio Lage, said on Thursday that his country wants to promote Namibian tourism in his country and the rest of Latin America.

He said tourism potential existed in Namibia but most Brazilian businesses did not know this country. The ambassador said the biggest problem affecting the flow of tourists was the absence of a direct flight connection between the two countries. He said he would inform businesses that there was a flight between Rio de Janeiro and Johannesburg through which they could connect to Windhoek.Lage said Namibia had various possibilities for economic development because of good Government policies. He noted that Namibia had national parks, the Kalahari and Namib deserts and the port of Walvis Bay, where trade between the two countries could take place.According to him, although Namibia might not have beaches as good as those of Brazil, Namibia had deserts and national parks. He said business and political co-operation between the two countries were good, citing the establishment of a cement factory in Otjiwarongo as an example. The company’s production capacity is 600 000 tonnes of cement a year, double Namibia’s annual demand, which is 300 000 tonnes.-NampaThe ambassador said the biggest problem affecting the flow of tourists was the absence of a direct flight connection between the two countries. The company’s production capacity is 600 000 tonnes of cement a year, double Namibia’s annual demand, which is 300 000 tonnes.-Nampa
