A Group of boys at Shambyu Senior Secondary School in the Kavango East region staged a protest on Monday against a rule prohibiting them from wearing boxer pants in the hostel.

This comes after the hostel master last week scolded some of the boys for walking in the corridors in nothing but boxers.

The Namibian understands that a few of the pupils were sent home because of the incident.

Over the weekend, some of the parents brought the boys back to the hostel, saying there is no clear rule that stops them from wearing boxers in the hostel.

Shambyu circuit education inspector Blasius Haita on Monday said the situation is receiving attention.

“I spoke to the hostel father to call the parents to explain the procedures and regulations of the hostel,” Haita said.

He further instructed someone from his office to attend to the matter with the principal, hostel master, and other stakeholders.

“I am not in the office today and delegated someone to go there. They are still in the meeting and we will give our directives after the meeting,” he said.
