RAMBLERS hitman Henrico Botes will don the colours of Moroka Swallows next season after he signed a three-year deal with the South African premiership club on Wednesday.
The Namibian international impressed Swallows coach Gavin Hunt during the recent NFA Cup final match in Windhoek, which Ramblers won after beating Black Africa 5-3 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw both in full-time and extra-time. Botes, who is considered as a threat to most defenders in the country, made an instant impact during the Cosafa Castle Cup match against Botswana this year, when he played a leading role in attack, despite Namibia losing on penalties in the end.He scored in that encounter despite playing a lone striker role and was named Man of the Match.Botes was made captain by coach Max Johnson only in his second international match for Namibia against Botswana.”I have been watching Henrico for a while now, but until I travelled to Namibia earlier in the month, I had not seen him live,” Hunt is quoted as saying on the PSL website.”He is a striker who is best suited to playing in the number nine role.He is an ideal target man who is good in the air and has a good turn of pace, I think he will be an asset to Swallows.”Botes will join fellow Namibian internationals George Hummel and Mohammed Ouseb on the Swallows team, which should enable him to quickly settle down at the Soweto side.Botes, who is considered as a threat to most defenders in the country, made an instant impact during the Cosafa Castle Cup match against Botswana this year, when he played a leading role in attack, despite Namibia losing on penalties in the end.He scored in that encounter despite playing a lone striker role and was named Man of the Match.Botes was made captain by coach Max Johnson only in his second international match for Namibia against Botswana.”I have been watching Henrico for a while now, but until I travelled to Namibia earlier in the month, I had not seen him live,” Hunt is quoted as saying on the PSL website.”He is a striker who is best suited to playing in the number nine role.He is an ideal target man who is good in the air and has a good turn of pace, I think he will be an asset to Swallows.”Botes will join fellow Namibian internationals George Hummel and Mohammed Ouseb on the Swallows team, which should enable him to quickly settle down at the Soweto side.
