‘Bora Box’ promotes Namibian music on Channel O

The much-anticipated local production ‘Bora Box’ premiered on Friday on Channel O, marking what producers describe as a milestone for Namibian music on international television.

The show, created in collaboration with MultiChoice Namibia as part of the second phase of its Ombura content project, was filmed by Reggie Film Crew and aims to put local music at the forefront of mainstream entertainment.

Director Undjee Reggie Zaire of Reggie Films says the production goes beyond entertainment.

“’Bora Box’ is more than a TV show; it’s a statement that Namibian music deserves the spotlight,” he says.

Zaire adds that the programme blends artist storytelling with street-level conversations, drawing inspiration from global platforms such as O-Access and TRL.

“The show gives artists visibility, encourages cross-genre appreciation and helps nurture a stronger sense of pride in our creative industry. By documenting and broadcasting these voices, we are building cultural archives and paving the way for more opportunities for local talent,” he says.

The first episodes feature behind-the-scenes glimpses into the lives of musicians, their performances and interactive segments that allow Namibians to request popular tracks from the streets.

“Our production team matched that energy with creativity and dedication, ensuring every episode reflects the heartbeat of Namibia’s music culture,” Zaire add.

According to the producers, the project reflects a growing respect for Namibian music and offers a platform for new and established artists alike to showcase their work.

Viewers who missed the premiere can catch repeat broadcasts every Saturday at 21h00 or Mondays at 22h30 on DStv Channel 320 and GOtv Channel 47.
