‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’

IT’S an unhappy ‘Hollerween’ in the latest instalment of the ‘Madea’ franchise as Tyler Perry dons the drag to offer more of a trick than a treat.

Clearly cashing in on the recent fright night while making Chris Rock’s ‘Top Five’ (2014) dreams come true, ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ (2016) is as funny as eight films in can expect to be.

With the ‘how best to discipline your children’ discussion lost in a mess of frat parties and prank wars, beyond the guffaws inherent in watching foul-mouthed old people cuss, run from ghosts and knock out clowns, the film definitely feels all over the place and plenty stale.

Giving the game away far too early on in the film before drawing the one-upmanship on for way too long, this Madea movie, much like ‘A Madea Christmas’ (2013), should have taken the ghost train straight to DVD.

See this if you’re fan of the foolishness. Skip this if you’re starting to feel like seeing five Madea movies is seeing them all.
