Body found at Long Beach

THE body of a man, who is suspected to have drowned, was discovered at Long Beach between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay yesterday.

In an incident report, deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, crime investigations coordinator for the Erongo region, says the body of Mac Mouton (60) was found by a friend.

His body washed out at the Long Beach area between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.

It is alleged that Mouton and three friends were fishing in the area on Tuesday, and that he was left behind at around 22h00 to continue fishing.

“The friends went to camp at the toilets next to Long Beach, and in the morning, they realised Mouton never returned. One of them went to check on him and discovered his body instead. It is suspected that he drowned,” says Iikuyu.

He says no foul play is suspected.

In another incident, Benjamin Nghihepa (48) allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at their shack at Kuisebmund on Tuesday. According to the police, the girlfriend ran to another shack in the same yard for safety.

Nghihepa was later found hanging from the roof of his ghetto with a rope around his neck. It is suspected he took his own life.
