Black Africa in ‘must-win’ match vs Ramblers

League champions Black Africa take on Ramblers in a must-win match as the sixth round of the MTC Premiership gets underway at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday night.

Black Africa moved up to second position on the log following their 2-1 victory against Eleven Arrows last weekend, but they are now five points behind Tigers, who have won all their matches to date.

According to coach Brian Isaacs, Black Africa have to beat Ramblers if they hope to stay in touch with Tigers.

“We need to accumulate points now and for us the Ramblers match is a must-win match, so we will go for the three points,” he said.

Isaacs added that Tigers had displayed fine form so far and would be strong contenders for the league title.

“They are consistent and are playing good football and they are getting good results. At the end of the day that makes them contenders for the championship,” he said.

Despite getting a victory against Arrows, Isaacs was not too happy with their form.

“It was a good result – we dominated the first half and you would think that we would kill the game off in the second half but unfortunately it didn’t happen because we already started celebrating at halftime while there was still 45 minutes to go. That was our mistake,” he said.

Black Africa however will start as favourites against a Ramblers side that has been struggling and are currently third last on the log. They have only won one match so far and are just above the relegation zone on four points from their opening five matches.

Ramblers have struggled with injuries, especially in defence, where players like Benji Ketjijere, Ricardo Tjiuoro and Ivan Bloom have been unavailable, although Ketjijere is expected to be fit for tonight’s match.

Alfred Ndyenge and Donovan Swartz have been leading their attack, while they have able midfielders like Amy Savihemba, Immanuel Heita and Joseph Miguel. Black Africa however, have more quality players in their squad, with a host of national players like Da Costa Angula, Denzil Haoseb, Willy Stephanus, Bryan Bantam, Marco van Wyk and Roger Katjiteo in their midst.

The rest of the Round Six matches take place this coming weekend with African Stars taking on Civics on Friday night at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

On Saturday there will be a double header at the Sam Nujoma Stadium with Tura Magic taking on Blue Waters at 16h00 while log leaders Tigers will take on Orlando Pirates at 19h00.

In other matches on Saturday, Eleven Arrows host Blue Boys at the Kuisebmond Stadium, while United Stars take on Rundu Chiefs in the Rundu derby.
