Big Brother Africa: Weekend Watch

AS usual the results of the weekly task were announced on Thursday.

Housemates had to put up with physically taxing activities and sleep deprivation in a task that saw them compete for sleep minutes. After a wager of 80 per cent, the tired housemates were overjoyed when Biggie announced that they had passed the task.Their joy was rather short-lived however, because Biggie used the opportunity to punish the entire house for Richiana’s (Richard and Tatiana) continuous rule infringements.Quoting a paragraph from the rule book, Biggie mentioned that despite several warnings, Richard and Tatiana continued to whisper.Richard even went as far as to write secret messages with his finger on Tatiana’s arm.Biggie punished the entire house by taking back a magnificent spread of food and drinks.A wonderful spread had been laid out in the garden – complete with bottles of tequila and sumptuous snacks but told the housemates that they could look but not touch.After feasting their eyes (but not their bellies), Biggie promptly had the entire spread removed.Ouch! After last week’s failed task and subsequent loss of weekly shopping currency, the hungry housemates were not impressed with Richard and Tatiana.The two were sent (separately) to the sin bin, accompanied by an unlucky housemate each to work out their punishment for a couple of hours.New Head of House On Friday, the housemates were presented with a memory challenge.A series of items were flashed across the plasma TV screen and housemates had to correctly recall as many items as they could and in what particular order they appeared.Lerato proved that she never forgets a thing by remembering the most items on the list and winning the title of Head of House for the coming week.Big Brother had a treat in store later in the evening.He gave the housemates the rare opportunity to watch a film on the plasma screen.He announced that there would be a slumber party and that all housemates should move their mattresses to the lounge area and put on their pyjamas.As most housemates sat transfixed to the screen, Max and Lerato had a slight argument which was fuelled more by booze and misunderstanding than anything serious.Max, who was comically inebriated already at that stage, refused to talk to Lerato and sulkily grabbed his duvet and went to snooze on one of the garden chairs.While one couple was having a bit of a tiff, another kind of triangle was brewing elsewhere in the garden…Love Triangle Venomous Bertha is trying to sink her claws into Kwaku.It seems that Bertha can’t stand the fact that she has no male attention and has decided to up her game by a few notches.Sitting close to Kwaku in the garden, the two chatted into the early hours of the morning as the rest of the house slept.As Meryl slept single-style, Bertha confessed that she had feelings for Kwaku.In a very long and drawn out conversation, Kwaku managed to very subtly reject Bertha.Speaking about Meryl, Kwaku explained that he had a lot of respect for her because she understood him as no other housemate did and that she gave him enough space, without putting pressure on him.Not one to burn his bridges, Kwaku intimated that given the chance something might have happened between them, had she not been so standoffish at the start of the game.That Bertha – my goodness! Now she is trying to steal Meryl’s man.OK, its not as though Meryl and Kwaku are married, or even in a serious relationship but there is definitely something in their relationship.Bertha in typical snake-like fashion is stepping onto Meryl’s territory – having tried and failed with Code and Maureen – and seems to particularly relish any opportunity to try and make Meryl squirm.A seemingly upset Meryl has remained tight-lipped about Bertha’s pursuit of Kwaku and has not confronted either of them about it.Surely if Meryl makes it past her first eviction, the growing friction created by a seeming love triangle could cause sparks to fly!
